Nomad's 20 Year Love Letter

Nomad's 20 Year Love Letter

To my love, Toronto,

I’m penning this just reminiscing on our wonderful relationship together with Nomad. Thinking back to the early 2000s, when the thought of opening a solo contemporary menswear store was just a dream and intimate conversations amongst guys like Zeb and Jesar. Reminiscing about the feelings of witnessing that dream come to life in 2005, and us as outsiders instantly intertwining with the calm culture being established at 431 Richmond Street West, as it became the new hot spot in ‘Fashion District.’

Our open relationship blossomed as names like first generation staff...entered the fold and became staples and everyone's personal go-tos. The early days of Supreme line-ups at Nomad, the random (but regular) encounters with k-OS, the worldwide travellers, film stars, athletes, creatives visiting just to see and experience homegrown love from a retail perspective. This relationship was truly an addictive habit that we had no intention of trying to tame or completely kick.

With all partners, even the tough times during the latter years, we pulled through. Parting ways with Richmond, though expected, hurt. Ending things with Queen was devastating, as Zeb and Jesar relished the thrill, but in the end moved on to bigger goals and dreams. Contemporary menswear suffered, but our relationship recovered, back stronger than ever when the new group took the roles of our new go-tos.

It’s been twenty years, Toronto…but through the ups and downs we survived in our relationship with Nomad. We can’t fake twenty years of culture, we can’t fake our unforgettable twenty-year bond. All that to say, thank you.

Love,

Quentin
