To some, tradition is everything. Certainly, it's the foundation that Gitman Vintage is built upon. The label is an off-shoot of Gitman Bros., and was inspired by a series of old line books discovered by Gitman head honcho Chris Oberlding. Each collection features updated versions of classic design, balancing old and new by blending modern cuts with retro fabrics and detailing. The shirts feature slimmer silhouettes with higher armholes than the mainline, and include all sorts of feature sure to please vintage enthusiasts—double-track stitching, locker loops and box pleating on the yoke, and so on. This attention to detail reveals a certain know-how that comes only with practice—no surprise, then, that the Gitman factory, still located in Ashland, PA, has been assembling oxfords for over 70 years.
